A professional may have the skill to launch a service but not an operating history. Bid Champions may support the infrastructure, market research or systems while another person runs delivery. This can create valuable learning, but only when the arrangement is transparent.
The mandatory operator record
Before a pilot begins, record the trading name, legal operator, ownership, contracting party, invoicing party, insurance, data controller, complaints route, Bid Champions role, Market Accord role and any commission or funding.
The website and customer terms should never leave someone guessing who is responsible.
Design the pilot around a decision
A pilot is not a cheaper version of an unlimited service. It tests a defined uncertainty: whether users can adopt the process, whether a quality threshold can be met, whether the service can operate at a specified volume or whether a buyer requirement is proportionate.
Define the scale, users, exclusions, success measures, stop conditions and scale decision before delivery. Otherwise every outcome can be reinterpreted as success.
Build evidence without manufacturing a case study
- Collect actual service records, not reconstructed narratives.
- Separate founder experience from current-entity delivery.
- Obtain specific permission for identifiable publication.
- Record defects, complaints and changes as well as positive feedback.
- State sample size and limitations.
- Do not imply buyer approval or procurement status.
R&D language requires care
Market research, routine testing and ordinary service development should not automatically be presented as formal research and development. Market Accord uses “research, development and market learning” as an operating description and does not determine tax treatment.
The Pilot Venture Studio is therefore a controlled evidence environment, not a device for turning every new business activity into an R&D claim.
